Celebrating our Faith and our Community

Our parish logo is a reflection of our faith and our community. The design elements work in tandem to tell our story - including our humble beginnings with the settlement of Irish Catholics in Merrickville.

Cruciform

Features a combination of three Christian cross styles.

Greek Cross to signify the harmony of the universe, spreading the gospel to the North, South, East and West.

Byzantine Cross (Latin cross with outwardlyspreading ends) to symbolize Christ’s sovereign power.

Celtic Cross to recognize the mass immigration of Irish Catholics to Merrickville and the surrounding areas in 1816. Many more Irish and French Catholics settled here with the building of the Rideau Canal (1826-1832). Together with the earlier Irish immigrants, they were Merrickville’s pioneer Catholic families.

Centre Icon

Inspired by the rose windows in the Church building coupled with a handwinch mechanism of the Rideau Canal Lockage System and a monogram “A” for St. Ann.

Victorian Style Fonts

The Victorian era was known for complicated structures with high ornamentation. The selected fonts are reflective of the design of the Victorian era.

Colour Palette

Colours chosen evoke a mature, timeless, and sophisticated feel. Our parish is steady, professional, and dependable.

Blue to honour the Blessed Virgin Mary, daughter of St. Ann.

Charcoal - a classic colour to communicate strength and mystery.

Burgundy to convey royalty and wisdom.
